Movetia is now a member of SIETAR
There should be a greater focus on Interculturality in education and in our programmes. For this reason, we have been a member of the Society for Intercultural Education Training and Research SIETAR since January. The organisation is committed to strengthening interculturality.
What does SIETAR do?
SIETAR Switzerland was founded in 2015 and is one of over 30 national and regional SIETAR organisations around the world. Its members aim to raise awareness around interculturality by linking experts from academia and business, and creating a connection between research and practice. SIETAR is a reference in the field of interculturality and organises numerous trainings, meetings and events every year. This year, at the national SIETAR congress in Yverdon-les-Bains in May, the focus will be on a postcolonial view of sustainability and the concept of “Inclusive Intelligence”, among other topics.
Why is Movetia participating?
The cooperation between SIETAR and Movetia began in 2021 with the co-authoring of the article “Futures of Education: Learning to become. How should what we learn, how we learn, and where we learn change in the future?”, which was published as a contribution to the UNESCO Futures of Education Initiative. As a national agency, Movetia strives to help shape the dialogue on topics such as exchanges, mobility and cooperation in education. It regularly elicits the needs and interests of the various stakeholders and strives for efficiency and sustainability in the promotion of international exchange and cooperation activities. Interculturality is a key issue in the context of mobility and internationalisation in education.
The internationalisation of the Swiss education system is being driven forward by various actors. Networks such as SIETAR not only raise awareness about interculturality, they also create ideal opportunities to exchange knowledge and allow to extend existing networks further.
