Switzerland’s association with Erasmus+ is planned for 2027. To this end, Switzerland and the European Union signed the Agreement on Switzerland’s Participation in EU Programmes (EUPA) on 10 November. This agreement includes Switzerland’s association with Erasmus+ from 2027.

The Swiss Government and the future National Agency, Movetia, are currently making all the necessary preparations. Movetia is currently undergoing the European Commission’s accreditation process, which is expected to be successfully completed in October. At the same time, Movetia is informing education stakeholders in Switzerland about the wide range of funding opportunities available within Erasmus+. Higher education institutions have already applied for ECHE accreditation.

Parliament’s approval, particularly regarding the funding of Switzerland’s participation in Erasmus+, is still pending; a decision is expected by December 2026. There is a possibility that parliamentary debate may delay Switzerland’s association with Erasmus+ or result in its refusal. In this case, the current Swiss programme will continue within its existing framework.
