Try something innovative to facilitate your international mobility!
Be the first to test the new app and get a free license of Shuffle - the innovative app using an innovative digital approach to bring together local and international students on Swiss higher education campuses.
Have you observed that your local students hardly mix with the international incoming students? Shuffle provides an innovative approach to tackle this challenge by offering a digital platform that bridges the gap between international and local communities, using the exchange of activity cards and gamification. Students with international experience developed the idea behind Shuffle during the EdTech hackathon organised by Swissnex in India, Swissnex in Boston and Movetia in November 2020. With the further support from Movetia, the app is now ready to be tested within a partner HEI.
What is Shuffle?
Shuffle is a mobile application made by students for students fostering interactions between local and international students through gamification of interactions between students. The multicultural team behind Shuffle embarked on a mission to create an app that would help integrate international students in Switzerland. The solution uses user-made virtual cards materialising activities as a means of cultural exchange between the two communities.
How can Shuffle contribute to the internationalisation of your HEI?
The Movetia index (Movetia 2023) has shown the importance of interaction between local and international students. In other words, the more the local student population is in active contact with the mobile population, the more mobility there is and therefore the more internationalised the institution becomes. Indeed, bringing together local and international students exposes local students to an international environment.
What will be the HEI role?
You are invited to promote the app on your campus(es), test it with a predefined number of students and provide feedback to the Shuffle team and optionally to enrich it with your own activities and events for students
Start of the pilot project: Fall semester
Duration of the project: 2 semesters
What could you get if you are selected?
You will get a free package with a 2 semesters licence of 2'500 CHF/semester (offered by Movetia), promotional resources (optionally advertisement of your events via custom cards), and free support. One licence is valid for only one institution (geographical scope to be defined for institutions with multiple sites).
The Shuffle team will support you with:
- Ongoing tech support
- Occasional presence on-site (if desired)
- Additional features implementation (if desired and feasible)
- Anonymised usage data to inform on the outcomes of the HEI’s internationalisation strategy
- Reaching out to local students via the ESN local section (if applicable)
What steps to take now?
You can send an e-mail to the Shuffle team with the Erasmus team in cc to express your interest in taking part. After discussions with the Shuffle team to clarify certain points, the choice of institution will be made on a "first come first served" basis according to confirmed interest.
