National teacher exchange reports first examples of success
The objective of the national funding programme is to make prospective teachers in Switzerland more mobile. The HEP Vaud, a programme participant, has created a video promoting the opportunity to gain professional experience in a foreign-language classroom. In the video, the students involved discuss their experiences.
With the National Teacher Exchange programme, Movetia is helping universities of teacher education to implement national foreign-language internships, semester mobilities and partnership projects since 2019. The aim of these projects is to help prospective teachers overcome language barriers and broaden their horizons during their studies through exchanges and mobilities. This, in turn, will optimally prepare them for the challenges that they will face in their teaching careers.
Currently, 15 universities of teacher education and around 850 students and recent graduates benefit from this programme. As a programme participant the HEP Vaud will be sending more than 40 students to another language region in Switzerland this year for an internship or a study semester. In a video and a report on this topic, they are now sharing their experiences and promoting the national programme for even more mobility in the field of teacher education.
