In detail

Cooperation Partnership Erasmus+ involve educational institutions working on an Erasmus+ project with institutions from abroad. The requirements of the Erasmus+ programme apply and the management is the responsibility of an institution in an Erasmus+ country, in contrast to Cooperation coordinated by Swiss institutions

Associated participation in an Erasmus+ project is funded by the Swiss Programme for Erasmus+

International projects with impact

Cooperation Partnership Erasmus+ enable the exchange of knowledge and experience between educational institutions in different countries and the development of new approaches. For example

  • educational scientists develop teaching materials for language-sensitive lessons together with subject and language didactics experts,
  • experts in adult education are developing a curriculum for the inclusion of people with a migration background,
  • are universities designing new teaching formats in connection with the digital transformation, or
  • youth work organisations develop a concept for the prevention of gender disparities.

International Cooperation partnerships improve the quality of selected aspects of the education system and promote innovation through thematic cooperation. They also strengthen the partner networks of the participating institutions and ensure that their results are recognised internationally. The projects should also contribute to one or more of the political priorities of the European Erasmus+ programme.

Erasmus+ partnerships as associated partners

Cooperation Partnerships Erasmus+ must involve at least three partner institutions from three different Erasmus+ countries. One of these institutions submits the application as project leader to its national agency or the Executive Agency in Brussels (EACEA).

The basic rules for participation in an Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnerships Erasmus+, such as objectives, project duration, composition of the consortium, funding amounts and possible project start dates, are determined by the EU Commission.

If you have found cooperation partners, your institution can enter into an associated partnership. You can apply to Movetia for funding for your participation in the project.

Q & A

Yes, this is possible in principle. There are three main reasons:

  • If an Erasmus+ project is rejected at EU level, the Swiss application cannot be approved either.
  • If the Added value / additional benefit of Swiss participation for Switzerland is not convincingly demonstrated, the project can also be rejected.
  • In principle, we expect to see increased competition for Swiss funding for international educational cooperation programmes such as those supported by Movetia in the coming years. We may have to turn down projects due to limited funding.

By "institution" or "organisation" we mean an entity that is involved in educational activities. This includes schools, universities, vocational training centres, associations, foundations or other structures. These institutions must have a formal framework for their activities and be legally recognised in Switzerland. Collaborators working for an institution can start a project with the approval of their management.

Possible partner institutions for international cooperation include different types of educational and vocational training institutions such as schools, universities, vocational training centres, public authorities, associations and companies active in the field of education. These partners should come from different countries and enable genuine transnational cooperation to develop innovative educational projects, exchange practices or solve common educational challenges.
