Webinar, online

Target group: Head of International Relations Office, IRO representatives or other relevant parties from a higher education institution or college of higher education.

In order to prepare for the accreditation process for Swiss higher education institutions and colleges of higher education for Erasmus+ in the best possible way, a webinar on the topic of ECHE took place on 30 September 2025. Representatives of the European Commission and Movetia explained the exact procedure at this webinar.

Context

The ECHE (Erasmus Charter for Higher Education) is an accreditation awarded by the European Commission that forms the general quality framework for all European and international mobility and cooperation activities within the Erasmus+ programme.

All higher education institutions wishing to participate in learning mobility and cooperation activities must have a valid ECHE. It is a prerequisite for applying for mobility projects for individuals and for cooperation in the context of Erasmus+.

Call 2026 is expected to be the last SEMP call as Switzerland will switch to the Erasmus+ programme from 2027. In order to be able to apply for funding under Erasmus+ from 2027, all Swiss higher education institutions and colleges of higher education must apply for an ECHE Charter. The deadline for this is 27 January 2026 (possible postponement to 24 March 2026, official confirmation by mid-November).
